Dear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong,

On Friday the 13th of June, Israel launched an unprovoked attack on Iran or as the dishonest Western Media like to call it – “a pre-emptive strike”, killing 78 people and injuring more than 320. Iran retaliated and as we anticipated both sides continued to strike each other.

Casualties in Iran so far: more than 800 people (mostly civilians)
Casualties in Israel (reported) so far: 24 people

The situation is forever evolving, and it is difficult to keep up; however, at the core issue - Israel's unchecked war crimes are still threatening global security. Their illegal actions could and likely will lead to a regional or World War that harms us all.

This government must hold Israel accountable for breaking international law by attacking multiple sovereign nations and destroying Gaza. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a Press Conference yesterday that “Iran repeatedly failed to comply with its international obligations.” As a global Community we are fully aware that - we - as a UN member state are not upholding OUR International obligations to uphold international law and protect human rights:

“As defined by the Genocide Convention and the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine, is to take action to prevent genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing, and their incitement, both within their own borders and in other nations.”

Further to this the ICJ ruled on 19 July 2024 “… all States are under an obligation … not to render aid or assistance in maintaining the situation created by the continued presence of the State of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”

Quite aside from this issue, we are also cognisant that Israel has an arsenal of nuclear weapons and that further to the briefing delivered by IAEA General Rafael Mariano Grossi to the UN Security Council on 20 June 2025 – Iran do not.

“A diplomatic solution is within reach if the necessary political will is there. Elements for an agreement have been discussed. The IAEA can guarantee, through a watertight inspections system, that nuclear weapons will not be developed in Iran.”

As we are sure you will also be aware, as even the most biased of media outlets is presenting drips of information to the public - is the upgraded level of depravity that Israel is inflicting - some “hunger games” style esque display of inhumanity.

As people gather to attempt to find aid for their families they are being shot, maimed and murdered day by day. We are certain that the situation in Iran is also a way of covering for the atrocities that Israel continuously enjoys by the silence of the people in power with the ability to do anything about this impunity.

We are not a broken record; we will keep insisting that top genocide scholars have agreed that Israel is responsible for genocide in an open aired prison that is almost 50% children. It has even been suggested in a conservative estimate from authors in the Lancet Medical Journal in July 2024 - “Counting the dead in Gaza: difficult but essential” that Israel had at that time - potentially killed more than 186,000 Palestinians.

The UN tells us nearly 70 per cent of casualties are women and children, based on verified numbers. More recently a Harvard University Report reports that Israel has murdered 17% of the Gazan population: "Yaakov Garb’s report for Harvard Dataverse has analysed the Israeli military’s own data and combined these with careful spatial mapping to reveal a demographic horror story: almost 400,000 people – at least 377,000 – have disappeared from Gaza’s pre-genocide population of 2.227 million, reducing it to 1.85 million when measured for the study.

The question remains – where are these people? Are we going to wait until the whole population has been decimated before we start doing proper head counts?

We need and urge you to take the stand on an International stage and say “enough”. We are all watching as this situation continues to unravel and create more division amongst the domestic and international community and furthermore death. When will this end? When will the destruction be enough for you to comply with our moral and legal duties to the global community?

To that end there are five urgent actions we need you to take immediately and set the clear and obtainable goal posts as listed below:

1. End all agreements and active permits with Israeli weapons companies.
 
2. Strongly and publicly rebuke Israel’s “crimes against humanity” (UN) in Gaza and their attacks on Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.
 
3. Cut all economic, military and political bonds with Israel.
 
4. Publicly declare our support for the International Criminal Court’s mission to arrest Israeli officials suspected of war crimes.

5. Send a military escort to deliver life-saving food, water and medicine to Gaza. At the very least, demand safe passage for any non-violent civilian flotillas/ heading to Gaza with humanitarian aid.

We don't need to be a major player in the Middle East to show the world we uphold international law. Sanctions helped to end apartheid in South Africa. Sanctions can stop Israel from destroying the Middle East and destabilising the entire world.
